We read and discuss the short story by Hemingway about the often difficult topic of abortion. The sparse language of Hemingway's story about an American man and his lover is a fine example of the minimalist style that gained fire in the 20th century and inspired a generation of 21st century writers.
Though Tom and I can't say that Hemingway is our favorite writer, we can appreciate his style in this particular story. We ask you to read it, see how the dialogue holds together, and think about the way Hemingway presents a topic that he never really comes out and identifies.
Fun fact: Hemingway killed himself with a gun he bought from Abercrombie & Fitch. (YES - THAT ABERCROMBIE!)
